Do you remember Get The Glass? I remember it, I loved that game! Or the Swedish Armed Forces recruitment campaign? Wish I were that smart
These are the guys that made these projects, projects that stay in your head and change the way communication is seen in the digital environment. Last night I was at one of the D&AD President’s Lectures where Marcus Ivarsson and Robert Lindström from North Kingdom presented some internal work concepts and campaigns.
What I loved: their internal work concept FUCK
Functionality
Usability
Cosmetics
Karlek (LOVE for what you do)

There is much to say but I was impressed by their strong commitment to the ideas of a strong team having a common goal, thinking as a big brain together. Their main office is in Skellefteå. That’s far north in Sweden, a small city with less than 35.000 inhabitants. And these guys come from there, some of them know each other since they were kids. And I was thinking: these guys work so well because they know each other and TRUST each other. I remember the fights we had in any agency I worked: the idea is MINE! Claiming ownership of an idea was so important. Maybe this is why their relationship as a team is so good and I envy that.
These guys were telling us about storytelling, captivating audiences with nice, simple but emotional stories. How many times didn’t we write that in presentations?
What I want to say is very basic: the more we live in a crowded and annoying environment, the more our ideas are blocked and trapped in social circumstances. Social circumstances created by our work environment that tell everyone where he or she belongs. Maybe great ideas come when we break those barriers and think about simplicity and the beauty within.
Get ready, I’m writing about ‘information society’, David Lyon, 1988 concept. Just blows your mind. Digital is not as new as you may think; and I paid £4000 to learn that.
