So, I think it’s about time I start this blog in English. Having in mind my encounter with some called nativeĀ English speakers that I found really hard to understand, maybe I should start writing about my London adventure in the local language. Do not worry, this is an excellent language exercise, having in mind that I will have to perform some interesting end of term projects this year.
Yesterday was the first house hunting day since I arrived here. But before facing the first situation with me as a renter, not a house owner, me and my dear friends took a stroll at Hampton CourtĀ Gardens, the famous Henry 8th gardens. Silly me, I thought it as just A GARDEN but it’s am amazing park around the palace, with the famous tennis court where Henry 8 played tennis before taking his wives’ heads off. Quite a lot of fun, isn’t it?
House hunting in London…wow…First of all, the Bible of house hunting in London is Gumtree. You selecrt your borrough, the wished budget (per week, my friends) and you pray you will find a decent house, with nice people. I wasn’t used to do house hunting as I did it 7 years ago before buying my house and this is it. First house, a hoax. Actually the room was available but it was a small one but a more expensive one but the owner was not at the meeting. Ok, next on the list. 2 Overground stations further from school. Nice neighbours, nice girls but there were some issues with the house itself. These 2 visits helped me organise myself and make a list to check for the next house hunting trips.
My advice, when in London, be prepared when looking for a house. There are people telling you something and the situation at the house is different. Flat sharing involves a lot of emotional factors, not only budget and placement. I will keep you posted as I hop it helps when you move here.
Today….today is travelling card ad mobile offers day. DO not worry, I love asking a lot of questions
